Alhamdulillah, on Saturday 11th July 2026, Kokni Community Luton proudly sent a team to Birmingham to compete in the annual Intercity Outdoor Cricket Tournament. Despite the scorching summer heat, the day was filled with fantastic cricket, great sportsmanship, and an even greater sense of unity between communities.

🏏 Match 1 – Kokan Kings (Blackburn)

Luton won the toss and chose to bat first.

KCL Luton: 93/1

Shuaib Dalvi retired on 30*
Saqib Parkar retired on 30*

Kokan Kings: 62/3

Result: KCL Luton won by 31 runs.

🏏 Match 2 – Masjid Al Falaah Birmingham (A)

Luton once again batted first.

KCL Luton: 86/2

Saqib Parkar retired on 30*

Masjid Al Falaah (A): 41/6

Result: KCL Luton won by 45 runs.

🏏 Match 3 – Masjid Al Falaah Birmingham (B)

Luton batted first for the third consecutive game.

KCL Luton: 64/1

Masjid Al Falaah (B): 66/3

Result: Masjid Al Falaah (B) won by 3 wickets.

Despite the defeat, KCL Luton finished top of the group, securing a well deserved place in the semi-finals.

Semi Final

KCL Luton faced New Stars Blackburn in a thrilling semi final that went right down to the very last ball. Blackburn required just two runs from the final delivery and managed to secure victory, bringing an end to Luton’s impressive tournament run.

Although disappointed not to reach the final, the entire squad can be incredibly proud of their performances, teamwork and determination throughout the day.

Congratulations to New Stars Blackburn, who went on to become the tournament champions.

A Huge Thank You

A heartfelt thank you goes to Masjid Al Falaah Birmingham for organising such a fantastic tournament. The hospitality shown throughout the day was exceptional from the delicious breakfast of Keema Pau and Karak Chai, to the continuous refreshments including drinks, samosas, channa, vada pau and watermelon, before finishing the day with a meal at the masjid.

Events like these are a wonderful reminder that sport brings communities together, strengthens friendships, and creates lasting memories.

Finally, thank you to every player who proudly represented Kokni Community Luton. Your commitment, effort and sportsmanship did the community proud. A special shoutout to Faaris, Hamzah and Hudair for representing the youth so well. May Allah SWT continue to bless you all with confidence, teamwork and success. Hope to see more of our youngsters turn up. Ameen!
